WHO IS ON THE DRIVER’S SEAT??

Hello everyone,

Happy Easter in arrears (inserts mischievous smile)

I don’t know if we are many on “this table” but I am somewhat of a control freak( I can be impatient too). I like everything to be in the right place and things to be done at the time I have assigned to it. While there is nothing wrong with this ( we should all be good time managers), it also means I am not a very flexible person. When things doesn’t go as planned then it sets me on the edge.

God on the other hand does not dwell in time, He exist outside of it. This means that all the timelines I set for myself might not be in alignment with God’s timing. When I talk about time here, I do not mean the chronos (Chronological time), I am talking about the kairos (typifies seasons and God moments).

Most times I find my self thinking “God can we just get this over with already”

But I have been thoroughly schooled by the Holyspirit and Fam I must say it was admist tears oh.

Just as I stated in my last post, true Christianity is all about letting go of the control over your life. It means leaving the driver’s seat and allowing God be the driver. If you are like me then this will be hard because you always want to be in charge.

“Then Jesus went to work on his disciples. “Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You’re not in the driver’s seat; I am. Don’t run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I’ll show you how. Matthew‬ ‭16:24 MSG‬‬

Over the years, God has shown me that nothing good comes from driving myself. I will share an example to buttress my point.

After I finished my Internship, I got retained at my place of work. Everything worked out just fine then the Pandemic started. Lockdown was announced on the day I was to resume work so I was asked to wait out the Lockdown. Little did I know that my wait will go beyond the Lockdown. All through the Lockdown I was so worried about not getting the Job back and that was exactly what happened. I remember vividly that one of the days I was having my so called meltdown, God was telling me to trust him (He kept on telling me to let it go) but the control freak in me will not listen. I made phone calls, activated “code worry” but the story remained the same. Then I just gave up and handed everything over to God, I started applying to other places and I got a perfect Job for that season of my life. The way I got the Job was so effortless and the best thing was that it was close to my house and convenient for me. It was hands on better than the one I wanted to kill myself over.I must even mention that throughout the Lockdown and the months that followed I was out of a Job but God provided for all our needs supernaturally.

With the benefit of hindsight, I know it was God that didn’t make that first Job work out. It would have stressed the life out of me. Plus it was essential for me to go through that Lockdown without a Job because that was when my healing really started. If I was working, I would have masked my pain with work just like I did during my housemanship.

It pays to trust God people.

It is hard because you sometimes do not know the directions He is taking you through but be rest assured that the destination is blissful. We feel we know what’s good for us but God’s knows better.

Growing in God means having less control over your life.

To balance this, I am not saying be irresponsible with your life oh but make sure it is God’s plan you are banking on and not something you got from your head or Social media.

“We are assured and know that [God being a partner in their labor] all things work together and are [fitting into a plan] for good to and for those who love God and are called according to [His] design and purpose.” Romans‬ ‭8:28‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

Everyone quotes this scripture but we usually do not complete it. All things work together only because it’s according to His design and purpose.

He wants to be in charge of your life, remember you already gave it to Him.

Incase you have forgotten, that was what we did at salvation.

“We handed our lives to Him”

Newsflash: It was not just some part of our lives oh but everything.

Recently God asked me to do something and it was so hard, I dragged my feet oh(I won’t even lie) but I yielded eventually. For me even if nothing comes out of it, the bliss I feel from obeying is enough.

He is not just my Savior, HE IS MY LORD.

In this kingdom we Obey Our Lord.

He might be telling you not to marry that person

He might be telling you relocation is a no no or relocation is the way to go.

He might be telling you not to take that Job.

He might be telling you to start a ministry

He might be telling you to give up your ministry

Do you trust Him enough to yield to Him?

Do you trust Him enough to allow Him drive you?

Knowing that wherever He leads, He will take care of you.

Who exactly is driving the vehicle of your life?

I will leave you with the lyrics of this song by tenth avenue that I love so much;

God You don’t need me
But somehow You want me
Oh, how You love me
Somehow that frees me
To open my hands up
And give You control
I give You control

Love and Revelational Light,

YJ

  1. Omooo…I just read this again and I’m like, “wowww!”. To learn to trust Him Who we truly know in the deep depths of our hearts can be TRUSTED, even–especially–when we don’t feel like it.
Thank you, YJ, I for this post.

PS, Feels really weird writing ‘YJ’ 😂🙈😅

Thank you Yejide for being such a blessing to us. God bless you ma❤
