It has been a minute……First of all; Happy New Year.
2020 was a lot and 2021 is also starting to look like it will be a lot too but;
We mouveeeee……by the power of Jesus.
This year started on a wonderful note for me and the word I got from the Lord is that it is going to be a year of pressing into the things of God.
It’s obvious with everything that happened last year that as believers we can’t afford to live without daily instructions from God. I am also learning that instructions from God don’t just come casually, you have to really shut down the noise and distractions to hear Him clearly.
“Wahala” for believer that does not hear God in this season oh.
Let me just quickly give a background story.
Towards the end of last year, we had a 21 days fast in church and I remembered that my prayers were majorly about knowing God more and entering depths in Him. At the beginning of the fast, my pastor had advised us that for the fast to be effective we needed to shut down distractions. No TV, no social media, no talking excessively. I did it and I can’t even start to describe the experience I had.
It was during this season that God started to highlight my teachers for the season to me and I just leaned in to their messages. Plus I was intentional about prayer and bible study.
The result was that I started to hear God more clearly and specifically.
“Go out and stand before me on the mountain,” the Lord told him. And as Elijah stood there, the Lord passed by, and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain. It was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. And a voice said, “What are you doing here, Elijah? 1 Kings 19:11-13 NLT
Sometimes you need to just shutdown to hear Him whisper to you. There is so much He wants to download to us but most times we are just too busy to appear before Him and even when we do we are in a hurry. Please if like me you are on this table let it end in 2020.
There are plenty treasures in proper koinonia (fellowship) with God and we will only access these treasures when we press in.
Then for people that just come to Him for a quick fix, you only remember to pray and study when you are in trouble; you really cannot scam God oh. He knows the intent of your heart. He wants our worship and fellowship to be original, this is the kind of sacrifice that is acceptable to Him.
“They go from strength to strength [increasing in victorious power]; Each of them appears before God in Zion.”
Psalms 84:7 AMP
This year, you have to appear before Him in Zion and as you appear please let your mind be present too.
Be intentional about studying the word and prayer.
Let me talk about prayer a little.
Sometimes our prayer is on “auto-drive” especially when praying in tongues. Your mouth is moving but your mind is thinking about one thousand and one things.
I was also guilty of this until recently when I started to engage my mind more while speaking in tongues. Pay attention to the thoughts and pictures that comes to your mind while speaking in tongues it might be an indication of something God is highlighting for you. Another thing is to interject your tongues with word/ scripture declaration, this helps to bring your wandering mind under control.
Don’t just be casual about bible study, you need to be systematic. Get a study plan, I have always done book study but I am looking at exploring topical study this year.
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”2 Timothy 2:15 KJV
Get a journal and sticky notes, write down any verse that resonates with you and paste it in a strategic place where you can see it throughout the day. Ruminate on this verse throughout the day, ask yourself what it really means and ask the Holyspirit to give you insight. This is how to meditate. If you are one that is always busy throughout the day set an alarm on your phone. This way you won’t forget.
Meditation is one of the ways to appear in Zion.
Another gamechanger is fasting.
Nothing weakens your flesh more than fasting. It also sharpens your spiritual senses especially when you fortify with prayers and the word. Fasting is not just about abstaining from food it is also abstaining from anything that is pleasing to the flesh like TV, social media, gist etc
The whole gist of this post is for you to continually do things that will keep you connected to God even as you go about your daily activities. The devil always takes advantage of a void so make sure there is no void for him to occupy.
Let’s continually soak in God’s presence this year to get strength and direction for our lives. While at it don’t forget to kick the devil in the face.
Love and Revalational Light,
